Two Ways to Use Custom Words

1Fix Misrecognized Words

Names, technical terms, and uncommon words often get transcribed wrong. Add them to Custom Words to fix it permanently.

2Create Text Snippets

Say a trigger phrase and have it expand into longer text. Perfect for addresses, signatures, or anything you type repeatedly.

How to Set Up

  1. 1Open Speakmac Settings (menu bar icon → ⚙️)
  2. 2Go to Custom Words
  3. 3Click Add to create a new replacement
  4. 4Enter the word/phrase to replace and what it should become

Pro Tips

  • Case matters: "john" → "Jon" won't affect "John" (already correct)
  • Use short triggers: "myaddr" is easier to say than "my full mailing address"
  • Add common mistakes: If Speakmac keeps mishearing a word, add all the variations
  • Multi-line text: Snippets can include line breaks for signatures or formatted text
