Privacy Policy

Your voice, your data

Speakmac is built for privacy-conscious builders. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you control when you use the app or browse the site.

What data we collect

Speakmac records audio locally on your device when you activate recording. Depending on your History and Privacy Mode settings, the recording and transcript may remain in local History or be discarded after use.

Speakmac sends limited anonymous install and update telemetry for release health. Other product usage analytics and crash diagnostics are opt-in. When enabled, they capture technical details so we can diagnose problems without collecting dictated text.

On the website, essential first-party records cover downloads, checkout handoffs, completed payments, refunds, and basic fraud or reliability signals. These records do not depend on optional analytics consent.

To connect those critical steps, we retain limited first-touch attribution for up to 90 days: campaign and click identifiers, acquisition cohort, referrer host, and landing path. This first-party record remains active when optional analytics is off and does not include dictated text or payment-card details.

How we use your data

Transcription happens entirely on your Mac. Audio is processed locally and never uploaded to Speakmac servers or any third-party transcription provider.

If you turn on Clean Up Dictation, Speakmac applies a local finishing pass after transcription to improve punctuation, casing, filler words, and paragraphing before paste. It does not upload the transcript for cleanup.

We never sell transcripts or recordings. Optional advertising measurement uses campaign identifiers only when you explicitly allow it; payment and license fulfillment continue when you decline.

Clean Up Dictation

Clean Up Dictation is optional and off by default. It is a finishing pass after local speech-to-text, not a different transcription model.

After you download the cleanup model, supported English transcripts are processed locally on your Mac. Unsupported non-English cleanup returns the raw transcript instead of guessing.

The finishing pass is designed to preserve meaning while removing filler and improving punctuation and paragraphing.

A detailed explainer is available at /help/text-intelligence.

Retention and deletion

When History saving is on, Speakmac keeps transcripts and associated audio locally so you can review or recover them. Privacy Mode intentionally saves neither after use.

You can delete past transcripts and snippets at any time from the app. Removing them clears the associated audio files from local storage.

Third-party services

Speakmac does not send recordings to external transcription APIs. The public Clean Up Dictation path also keeps transcript cleanup on your Mac.

Lemon Squeezy and Razorpay process purchases. We retain provider order, payment, amount, status, and refund records needed for fulfillment, accounting, support, and reliable reporting.

We use Google Analytics, Google Ads measurement, and Vercel Analytics to understand traffic patterns and campaign performance on speakmac.app. For EEA visitors, and when location cannot be established, optional measurement stays off until you choose Yes.

Your choices

You can disable opt-in product analytics and crash diagnostics in the app settings at any time.

On the website, Yes enables optional analytics and advertising measurement; No keeps both off. You can change your choice below. Choosing No stops optional collection and clears readable Google Analytics storage. Essential first-party attribution, download, checkout, payment, refund, and operational records remain active.

If you have questions about how Speakmac handles data, email [email protected] and we will respond within five business days.
