# Troubleshooting (Speakmac)

## I can't find the app
- Speakmac runs in the macOS menu bar (top-right), not the Dock.

## Hotkey does nothing
- Make sure your cursor is in a text field (blinking cursor).
- Confirm Accessibility permission: System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Accessibility -> enable Speakmac.
- Check for hotkey conflicts with other apps.

## It won't record audio
- Confirm Microphone permission: System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Microphone -> enable Speakmac.
- Check the selected input device in macOS Sound settings.

## Model download is stuck / failed
- The on-device model is downloaded once on first setup (~600 MB).
- Make sure you have a working internet connection for the initial download.
- Retry the download from the app.

## It says my Mac is unsupported
- Speakmac requires Apple Silicon (M-series) and macOS 14+.
