# Data Retention (Speakmac)

## What data is stored
Speakmac can store the following on your Mac (locally):
- Transcription text (your dictated output).
- Optional local transcription history.
- Associated local audio files for each transcription (so you can replay or manage history).

## How long data is kept
- Local history is kept until you delete it.
- If you enable "do not save" / privacy mode, Speakmac can avoid keeping history and can delete recordings immediately after insertion.

## How to delete
- Delete a single transcription in the app to remove that entry and its associated local audio file.
- Use the in-app "delete all history" option to purge all local history and recordings.

## Notes
- "Offline" refers to transcription running locally after the initial model download.
- Local retention is controlled by your app settings and your macOS user account security.
